SEO is not dead, here’s the proof
2 days to position 3 on Google for a brand new post, yes really. How? Read on.
Over the last 12 months some respected people in our industry have stated that SEO is dead. I don't believe this is true so I did an experiment last weekend.
For those of you that know me you'll already know I am a bit of a petrol head and a keen mechanic and ex racer. So when my wife's 2015 Audi A3 gave her a message saying the car needed an oil change I thought rather than the Covid risk of taking it to a garage I'd just do it myself.
I did a Google search to make sure there were no unknowns, but although there were a lot of articles I really couldn't find anything very useful or specific to her model and engine. Not an issue for me so I just cracked on. Then I thought what about documenting this and creating a blog for others doing this work.
So I did and you can see the post here https://alpha-tango.co.uk/audi-a3-2015-1-4-tfsi-147bhp-oil-change/
Once the post was completed I went into my Google Search Console and clicked on URL INSPECTION in the left menu and put the URL into the box at the top. Google confirmed the page was not indexed so I clicked on REQUEST INDEXING.
Two days later my post in in position 3 on Google for the search phrase "changing the oil on an audi A3 1.4 tfsi" using broad search. And yes my title was too long, that's now sorted.
So assuming you do the keyword phrase research correctly and optimise your content for search phrases that people are actually searching for you will get results.
Don't listen to the naysayers, creating useful good quality content is still an effective way to bring traffic to your website. Now I just need to open a garage 🙂
