How to find your Google Analytics v4 tag code
I am assuming you've already setup GA4, but if not here is the Google support page on how to do so https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/9744165. If this feels a bit complex then try searching Google for another article covering this, there are many.
GA3 (Universal Analytics) will be turned off in July 2023 so it's a very good idea to setup GA4 now to start collecting data.
Once you have setup your new GA4 property you'll need to add the tag code or tag manager code to your website, and finding it is not as easy as it should be. Here's how:
- Click on ADMIN (bottom left cog icon)
- DATA STREAMS
- YOUR DOMAIN NAME
- Scroll down to GOOGLE TAG
- VIEW TAG INSTRUCTIONS
- Click on the arrow on the right
- Click on the INSTALL MANUALLY tab
- Copy the code.
